I am trying to launch Mozilla but still I am getting this error:

Exception in thread "main" java.lang.IllegalStateException: The path to the driver executable must be set by the webdriver.gecko.driver system property; for more information, see https://github.com/mozilla/geckodriver. The latest version can be downloaded from https://github.com/mozilla/geckodriver/releases

I am using Selenium 3.0.01 Beta version and Mozilla 45. I have tried with Mozilla 47 too. but still the same thing.

The Selenium client bindings will try to locate the geckodriver executable from the system PATH. You will need to add the directory containing the executable to the system path.

  • On Unix systems you can do the following to append it to your system’s search path, if you’re using a bash-compatible shell:

    export PATH=$PATH:/path/to/geckodriver
    
  • On Windows you need to update the Path system variable to add the full directory path to the executable. The principle is the same as on Unix.

All below configuration for launching latest firefox using any programming language binding is applicable for Selenium2 to enable Marionette explicitly. With Selenium 3.0 and later, you shouldn't need to do anything to use Marionette, as it's enabled by default.

To use Marionette in your tests you will need to update your desired capabilities to use it.

Java :

As exception is clearly saying you need to download latest geckodriver.exe from here and set downloaded geckodriver.exe path where it's exists in your computer as system property with with variable webdriver.gecko.driver before initiating marionette driver and launching firefox as below :-

//if you didn't update the Path system variable to add the full directory path to the executable as above mentioned then doing this directly through code
System.setProperty("webdriver.gecko.driver", "path/to/geckodriver.exe");

//Now you can Initialize marionette driver to launch firefox
DesiredCapabilities capabilities = DesiredCapabilities.firefox();
capabilities.setCapability("marionette", true);
WebDriver driver = new MarionetteDriver(capabilities); 

And for Selenium3 use as :-

WebDriver driver = new FirefoxDriver();

Using RemoteWebDriver

If you want to use RemoteWebDriver in any language, this will allow you to use Marionette in Selenium Grid.

The driver executable needs to be avaiable physically on node machine. You can set the path to exe while starting the node

Add this line in the command

-Dwebdriver.chrome.driver=./chromedriver.exe

I configure this from json file and found that's little easier

Notice the IEDriverServer.exe is placed in same directory with json file

This error message...

org.openqa.selenium.interactions.MoveTargetOutOfBoundsException: 
(377.375, 958.3999938964844) is out of bounds of viewport width (1268) and height (943)

...implies that Selenium was unable to focus on the desired element as the element was out of bounds of the viewport.

Your main issue is the WebElement identified as webElement is out of Viewport so Selenium can't move the focus on the desired element through moveToElement() method.

Solution

A simple solution would be to use the executeScript() method to bring the desired element within the viewport and then invoke moveToElement() method as follows:

WebElement myElement = driver.findElement(By.xpath("xpath_of_element"));
((JavascriptExecutor) driver).executeScript("arguments[0].scrollIntoView();", myElement);
withAction().moveToElement(webElement).perform();

It is possible to modify preferences in flight via dev toolbar CLI but it may introduce higher overhead than loading images. Here is Python example:

You should set the chrome driver option like this:

java -jar selenium-server-standalone-2.53.0.jar -Dwebdriver.chrome.driver=chromedriver.exe

After the -Dwebdriver.chrome.driver= you should put the path to the cromedriver.
